When we get close to what is present in us moment by moment, we experience real life, close up, honest, raw, and heartfelt. The universal. Flow writing brings everything into sharp focus, creating an undeniable vulnerability.Vulnerability opens the heart, and an open heart is the antidote to most everything.
I don't feel cured after writing, but relieved, soft, and connected. We can't change a lot of things, but we can make space for them. Rather than being crushed under the weight of carrying it alone, we can hand it over to the page. It is possible to find spaciousness and not be swept away by our terrorizing thoughts. The caged birds inside our ribs can be freed. We can see that we are still here, against all odds, governed by a deep desire to be known by love.
Today I wanted to share with you some details about my writing practice and maybe inspire some of you to pick up a pen and explore your life. Writing practice became a method for my healing, and I share two of my favorite prompts for rekindling the heart. This is less about wanting to be a writer and more about finding and connecting with something meaningful.
