‘You Reading this, Be Ready’

Starting here, what do you want to remember?
How sunlight creeps along a shining floor?
What scent of old wood hovers, what softened
sound from outside fills the air?
Will you ever bring a better gift for the world
than the breathing respect that you carry
wherever you go right now?
Are you waiting for time to show you some better thoughts?
When you turn around, starting here, lift this
new glimpse that you found; carry into evening
all that you want from this day. This interval you spent
reading or hearing this, keep it for life—

What can anyone give you greater than now,
starting here, right in this room, when you turn around?
-a poem by William Stafford

Hi friend,

In this meditation and contemplation, we will unpack some of the reasons why we leave the present moment, and how best to listen for our guidance calling us back home to ourselves. We will discuss how to move down from our cyclones of distraction and move into steadfast peace so to cultivate our relationship with what is even and calm within us. This is how we access unconditional joy and equanimity.

May we be available for the type of life we want to live. May we reckon with the habits and tendencies that deprive and rob us of really knowing who we are, and what matters to us. May we breathe ourselves into the home we have left, and may we continue to grow, and nurse the steadfast stream of peace within us. So be it.

thank you.

love,

Sarah
